Erasmus University College Partnership Agreement

New collaboration with a post-secondary institution in the Netherlands benefits future physicians and international health leaders.

Saba University School of Medicine (SUSOM) and Erasmus University College (EUC), a public education institution in the Netherlands that offers an interdisciplinary Liberal Arts & Sciences degree to its international student base, are proud to share the details of a collaboration in support of aspiring physicians.

As part of this newly established medical education pathway, interested EUC graduates who have successfully completed their Pre-Med major, and maintained a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (75%), will gain direct entry* into SUSOM’s 4-year Doctor of Medicine (MD) program.

Further benefits for eligible pathway participants include a streamlined admissions process, individualized application support, a guaranteed interview, and eligibility for up to $80,000 USD in grants and scholarships!

Cornelis Vink, Acting Academic Director and Head of Department Life Sciences of EUC shared: “We’re excited to partner with Saba University School of Medicine, offering our Pre-Med major students a seamless pathway into SUSOM’s prestigious 4-year MD program and empowering the next generation of physicians to launch global medical careers in the U.S., Canada and beyond.”

Sucharitha Konda, Business Development Coordinator for SUSOM, shared: “We are pleased to announce our partnership with Erasmus University College in Rotterdam, a distinguished institution known for its commitment to academic excellence and innovative learning, creating new opportunities for our students to thrive on a global stage.”

Founded in 1992 on the island of Saba, SUSOM has delivered a comprehensive medical education to 3,500+ MD program alumni. Over the course of this 10-semester program, graduates will have experienced five semesters of classroom and lab-based learning on our Saba campus, followed by five semesters of clinical rotations at affiliated teaching hospitals, clinics and medical centers in the U.S., and select elective rotation sites in Canada. Our accreditor, the Accreditation Organization of the Netherlands and Flanders (NVAO), is recognized by the World Federation of Medical Education (WFME). SUSOM physicians go on to practice in the U.S., Canada and internationally.

Beneficially, this partnership has been established between Erasmus University College and all three GUS Medical Schools – Saba University School of Medicine, Medical University of the Americas and St. Matthew’s University School of Medicine.

*To receive direct entry, EUC graduates must submit an application, share relevant academic transcripts, satisfactorily complete an interview with the SUSOM admissions team, provide two letters of recommendation and write a personal statement (500 words max.).
