American University of Ras Al Khaimah Partnership Agreement
New accelerated pathway agreement supports aspiring physicians in the United Arab Emirates.
At Saba University School of Medicine (SUSOM), we proudly empower the next generation of practicing medical doctors. As part of this commitment, SUSOM has established a new educational pathway agreement with the American University of Ras Al Khaimah (AURAK), which will support the efforts of students in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) who are pursuing a Doctor of Medicine (MD) program education.
The pathway proceeds in two parts. First, students in the AURAK Biotechnology Program (BSc) who successfully complete 93 of the required 128 program credits, and meet all associated partnership requirements, will be eligible to immediately proceed into the SUSOM MD program and receive associated partnerships benefits. These benefits include a $20,000 USD pathway scholarship, a guaranteed admissions interview, and eligibility for up to $80,000 USD in additional grants and scholarships. Then, once eligible students successfully complete the first two semesters of the SUSOM MD program, they will be awarded the remaining 35 AURAK credits and will earn their BSc in Biotechnology.
Beneficially, UAE students who join SUSOM via this unique pathway will save significant undergraduate tuition, housing and living costs, and begin their career as a physician sooner, which delivers long-term earnings and advancement rewards.
Professor Bassam Alameddine, President of American University of Ras Al Khaimah (AURAK), commented: “Our strategic partnership with Saba University School of Medicine reflects AURAK’s unwavering commitment to academic excellence, global engagement and expanding the horizon for our students. By establishing an accelerated pathway from our Biotechnology (BSc) program to the Doctor of Medicine (MD) program, we are creating a transformative opportunity for our students to turn their passion for science into impactful careers in healthcare with meaningful international exposure. This collaboration further strengthens AURAK’s international network and emphasizes our strategic priority to establish meaningful partnerships with distinguished institutions that share our vision of shaping the next generation of healthcare leaders.”
“We are proud to partner with the American University of Ras Al Khaimah to expand access to comprehensive medical education through clearly defined, globally connected pathways,” shared Diana Mockute, Chief Partnership Officer, GUS Medical & Veterinary Schools. “This agreement reflects our commitment to supporting student mobility, accelerating academic progression and preparing the next generation of practicing physicians. By creating a seamless transition into the 4-year MD programs at SUSOM and MUA, we are strengthening both student outcomes and the global healthcare workforce.”
SUSOM MD program students spend the first half of medical school (Basic Science) on our Saba campus before transitioning into rotations (Clinical Medicine) in the U.S. (core and electives) and Canada (select electives). They benefit greatly from early hands-on training opportunities, regular interactions with our dedicated faculty and access to diverse Student Services. In this supportive learning environment, future medical doctors from around the world achieve their USMLE, residency placement and career practice goals!
Notably, this partnership has been established between American University of Ras Al Khaimah and two GUS Medical Schools – Saba University School of Medicine and Medical University of the Americas.
