Dr. Tsivis was awarded the MD degree in the United States and after completion of residency training and board certification in anatomic and clinical pathology he practiced pathology both as a hospital-based pathologist and in an independent pathology laboratory setting. Subsequently several years ago Dr. Tsivis started teaching pathology and he has been on the faculty of universities both in the Caribbean and in the United States, including Saba University School of Medicine in 2017 and 2018. Dr. Tsivis has returned to Saba University School of Medicine as a faculty member teaching pathology.
