Our integrated, systems-based curriculum reflects training offered at premier U.S. medical institutions. Guided by accomplished faculty—each holding an MD and/or PhD or the equivalent —our classes, intentionally kept small, prioritize your success. This approach ensures that you’re not merely a student but an aspiring physician poised to make a meaningful impact in the communities that need you most.

Medical Program

Saba's Medical Program spans ten transformative semesters. Anchoring this journey is the bedrock of medical education—twenty months of basic science education on our Saba campus. Your basic science preparation culminates with a pivotal milestone: the USMLE Step 1 exam, a cornerstone of your licensing journey. Our dedicated team of educators collaborates with you to map out a tailored academic strategy, priming you for success on this crucial assessment.

After your time on the island, you will return to the U.S. or Canada for 72 weeks of immersive clinical rotations. These rotations occur at teaching hospitals, forming a dynamic bridge between knowledge and real-world application.

Gateway Program

Are you missing one or two of the prerequisite courses for our Medical Program, or is your undergraduate education a bit out of date? If so, then the Gateway Program might be an ideal pathway for you. Gateway is a 15-week medical school preparatory program offered online to students who have been granted conditional acceptance to Saba University School of Medicine. Gateway is offered three times per year, beginning in January, May, and August. Please note this is not a degree-granting program.

Pre-Medical Master's Program

The Pre-Medical Master’s Program is an accelerated medical education program for career changers -- those who have an undergraduate degree in something other than the typical pre-med majors. After successfully completing this 2-semester, 8-month program offered by Medical University of the Americas, students will be eligible for admission to Saba University School of Medicine’s medical program and will be awarded a Master’s Degree in Biological Science from Medical University of the Americas.
