Saba University School of Medicine holds an accreditation recognized globally, enabling our students to practice medicine in all 50 U.S. states, Canada, the United Kingdom, and various other countries. Our accreditor, the Accreditation Organization of the Netherlands and Flanders (NVAO), is recognized by the World Federation of Medical Education and its standards have been deemed comparable to the standards used to accredit medical schools in the United States by the U.S. Department of Education’s National Committee on Foreign Medical Education and Accreditation. The NVAO is the accrediting body for the Netherlands and Flanders. Saba is the only Caribbean medical school that has met the standards of European accreditation.

Pre-Med Master’s Program
Experience an accelerated medical education program for career changers with an undergraduate-level degree and some foundational science coursework. Complete your 8-month Master’s through Medical University of the Americas4 (our fellow GUS Med & Vet institution) and apply for admission to the MD program at Saba University School of Medicine.
Gateway Medical Program
Prepare for your MD with Gateway Medical Program, a 15-week online preparatory course for students who have received conditional acceptance. Upon successful completion of Gateway, students join the next entering Saba University School of Medicine medical program class.

1. Based on 2021-2023 data. First-time pass rate defined as total number of students passing the USMLE Step 1 on their first attempt divided by the total number of students taking USMLE Step 1 for the first time during the calendar years 2021 to 2023.
2. Based on 2021-2023 data. First-time pass rate defined as total number of students passing the USMLE Step 2 CK on their first attempt divided by the total number of students taking USMLE Step 2 CK for the first time between the academic years 2021 to 2023.
3. 97% Four Year Residency Placement Rate is the percent of students attaining a residency position out of all graduates or expected graduates in 2020-21, 2021-22, 2022-23 and 2023-24 who were active applicants in the NRMP match or attained a residency outside the NRMP match.
4. The Pre-Med Master’s program is offered by, and Master’s degree is awarded by, Medical University of the Americas.
