Today, Dr. Martin is on staff at Newton-Wellesley Hospital in Newton, Massachusetts, board-certified in both general psychiatry and child/adolescent psychiatry with a faculty appointment at Tufts University School of Medicine and a private practice.
"I was very happy teaching undergraduates about the classical worlds of Greece, Rome and the ancient Near East and creating a career in academia," said Martin, who has a B.A. in Biology from Columbia University, a B.A. in History from the University of Washington in Seattle and an M.A. in Near Eastern Languages & Cultures from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) where he later went on to teach. "But I envisioned a different life for myself and I saw it in psychiatry."
Looking for a medical school that combined a strong commitment to academic excellence and was also open to a student making a late-in-life career change, Saba rose to the top of the list.
