Biography:

Dr. Lea was born and raised in Indianapolis, Indiana. He attended Indiana University, majoring in Chemistry and Biology.  He received his M.D. cum laude in 1985 from Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska. Dr. Lea performed residencies in General and Trauma surgery in Denver, Colorado and upstate Pennsylvania. Following residency, Dr. Lea practiced general and trauma surgery and gastrointestinal endoscopy in Colorado and Wyoming.

Dr. Lea has more than two decades of clinical training and experience. He has been teaching anatomy with clinical correlations since 2009. Dr. Lea has taught at the University of Colorado (Denver) and Rocky Vista University, School of Osteopathic Medicine in Parker, Colorado. He has been teaching at SUSOM since 2015 and has been noted for his engaging and animated teaching style.
 

Dr. Lea, his wife Barbara and two grown sons enjoy music, travel, cooking, camping and fly fishing for mountain trout.
