Saba Alum Organizes Mission Trips Back to the Island

Alumni, Michael Thomas organizes mission trips to Saba over the spring and summer breaks.

Saba is intensely beautiful, home to some of clearest waters in the world and dotted with charming inns and restaurants.

While not well known to many, students on the campus of Lipscomb University, a highly regarded Christian Liberal Arts university in Nashville, know Saba well as the destination for their yearly mission trips.

It all started in 2001 when Michael Thomas started studying for his medical degree at Saba and Aletha, his bride of just six weeks, took up work as a high school teacher.

The couple quickly dove into the lives of the Saban people and in many ways have never really left.

An alum of Lipscomb, Michael came up with the idea of bringing students and others down to Saba on mission trips over spring and summer breaks.

2018 will be the 16th year of a Lipscomb mission trip to Saba.
