Saba—The Island

Most people are not familiar with the island nation of Saba—consider that a good thing. Reached in less than 15 minutes by air from St. Maarten (one of the major gateways to the Caribbean), Saba is a world away from other Caribbean destinations.

Saba is a Dutch island with English as the first language (all classes at the medical school are taught in English). Dotted with small villages and a Dutch-inspired architecture, Saba is compact (five square miles), quiet and safe—offering the perfect environment to concentrate on your demanding medical studies.

But when relaxation is needed, Saba has alot to offer--stunning Caribbean vistas, incredible hiking and perhaps the best scuba diving in the world. Inns and highly regarded restaurants dot the island.
