Accreditation and Licensure
Saba University School of Medicine is listed in both the World Health Organization (WHO) directory and the International Medical Education Directory (IMED) of the Foundation for the Advancement of International Medical Education and Research (FAIMER). Saba students are eligible to sit for United States Medical Licensing Examinations (USMLE) exams. Saba graduates, having successfully passed the USMLE Step 1, Step 2CK and Step 2CS exams, are eligible for Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG®) certification, which is required to enter a residency in the United States. Upon completion of residency, Saba graduates are then eligible to take the USMLE Step 3 exam.
Accreditation
Saba University School of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Commission on Colleges of Medicine (ACCM). The United States Department of Education has determined that the ACCM’s accreditation standards are comparable to those set by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME), to accredit medical schools in the United States and Canada.
In addition, Saba University School of Medicine has received a positive assessment of the university’s M.D. program by the NVAO (in Dutch: Nederlands-Vlaamse Accreditatieorganisatie). The NVAO is the Accreditation Organization of the
