OVERVIEW |
WELCOME
FROM THE GOVERNOR OF SABA
Lt. Governor Antoine J.M. Solagnier
Over the years, SABA University School of Medicine has undergone
steady sustainable growth providing her strength like no other
institution of higher learning in the region. We have been
able to profit from a partnership stemming from mutual respect
and aimed primarily at a higher level of healthcare for our
community. The government of Saba has been able to observe
the contribution to the island's economy proceeding from activities
surrounding the Medical School.
SABA University
School of Medicine's contributions are not confined to education
and medical services. The existence of the medical school
on Saba brings with it a human dimension, which can only be
considered unique. Our island offers to the students and faculty
the necessary environment for optimal pursuit of academic
excellence. Our beautiful natural surroundings, our friendly
community and the lowest rate of crime in the region are conducive
to just that atmosphere required to provide students as well
as researchers the opportunity to dedicate themselves toward
their ideals and goals.
The community
welcomes also the presence of those associated with the University,
for we find in them characteristics we much value, such as
dedication and community spirit. Allow me to welcome you to
Saba on behalf of the government and community.
Sincerely,
Antoine
Solagnier, Lt.Governor

WELCOME
FROM SABA UNIVERSITY SCHOOL OF MEDICINE
David
L. Fredrick, President
The School began its operations with a vision that has
now become a successful reality. Our primary educational outcome
is to provide our graduates, regardless of specialty orientation,
with a foundation in general medical concepts and problem
solving that are based on an understanding of medical concerns
as they relate to patients, families, health care systems
and the community population in which they will practice.
This foundation of training fosters the provisions of care
that are considerate, compassionate, humanistic and of high
quality. As a key part of our medical education curriculum,
the faculty constantly reviews and assesses the program around
the teaching learning concepts:
- Cultivating
professional behaviors to promote life long learning
- Integrating
basic science knowledge and educational reasoning through
clinical experience
Such an
extensive educational enterprise cannot be provided and obtained
by classes alone. You are the important factor in sharing
and comparing information amongst your faculty, your peers
and your patients. At SABA, where students are our greatest
assets, we will open the door of medical knowledge and take
you through in order to prepare you for your future roles
as health care providers.
Sincerley,
David L. Fredrick, President |
