Saba is very fortunate to be one of the location in the Caribbean to have a Hyperbaric-Recompression Chamber. This hyperbaric facility is administrated by the Saba Marine Park authorities and is under the medical direction of Dr. Igor V. Aksenov. It is manned entirely by volunteers, most of whom are medical students at SABA University and local community residents. The training of these volunteers is coordinated by the graduate students completing training in hyperbaric medicine. Coursework leading to a Master's Degree in Hyperbaric Medicine may also be completed at SABA University.

In August 1994, the SABA University Board of Trustees approved a Bachelor of Science Degree Program in Medical Science and a Master of Science Degree in Hyperbaric Medicine.
